Greek Eats has only been open for four years but has quickly become one of the best Mediterranean places in the area. Greek Eats is a fast food styled Greek restaurant located in Shrewsbury, NJ at 89 Newman Springs Rd. It first opened its doors in 2015 and has since added another location in Brick, NJ. The restaurant resembles a greek styled Chipotle as you pick what goes into your meal step by step.

Greek Eats takes pride in their environmentally friendly restaurant with 100% compostable packaging, utensils, napkins, cups, and their reclaimed wood they use as decor. They also offer vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free options for those that have a restricted diet.
For their main meals, you can choose from three different bases, a yeero (wrapped in a warm pita), a bowl (over greens or grains), or a plate (with pita, gigantes, potatoes, & saffron or brown rice). Each of these three tasty bases are reasonably priced from $7.75 to $11.50. You then choose what meat, falafel, cheese or hummus you want. After, you choose from a group of sauces that you can add to your meal such as traditional, sriracha, or avocado tzatziki, greek vinaigrette. Lastly, you can then add toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, feta, cucumbers…etc.
Greek Eats offers you the option to either sit down or take it to go. They also provide a large choice of sides you can add for an additional amount such as grape leaves, regular fries, lemon potatoes, village fries, empanadas, or a dessert such as baklava.
While here I indulged in a yeero with bifteki (spitfire roasted ground lamb and beef), with traditional tzatzi as my sauce and included toppings such as lettuce, tomato, pickled onions, banana peppers, feta, cucumbers, olives, and parsley. Additionally, ordering a side of village fries (topped with grated cheese and fresh herbs).
Walking into the restaurant I was pleasantly greeted by an owner saying hello and asking if there were any questions about the menu. The restaurant was spotless with clean shiny tables as the sunshine gleamed in through the large glass windows. The smell of the restaurant was filled with spices and the fresh fries being made. The workers made conversation with me as I decided what I wanted and were patient throughout the process.
The restaurant was quiet at the time but the phone was ringing off the hook with people placing orders due to its large demand. As I got my order, I was pleased with the appearance of the vibrant colors in my yeero and how big the portion size was for a side of fries.

Once I had taken a bite of my yeero as seen in the image above, I felt as if I was in heaven. The pita was soft and warm while the sauce was cold making a balanced combination. It also provided a lot of texture from the meat and toppings that made you keep wanting to eat more. The fries were delicious, fresh and hot out of the fryer as I couldn’t help myself to eat all of them.
Recommendations
Some things I would recommend to the restaurant is to add greek music to the background of the restaurant to create a more authentic greek vibe and perhaps come up with different sizes for fries. Although they are reasonably priced, you should be able to get a smaller amount for less. Overall, Greek Eats is definitely a great place for just about anyone whether you are in a rush and want to take it to go or enjoy the clean seating available.
